Yale Model United Nations Conference China 2024

Welcome Letter from YMUN

Dear Esteemed Delegates, Advisors, Parents, and Future Global Leaders,

It is my greatest honor to welcome you to Yale Model United Nations Conference China, taking place May 17th-19th, 2024, in China’s kaleidoscopic heartland of Shenzhen. We are delighted to work in partnership with WELAND to present an immersive and educational experience for you all in the YMUNC community!

Composed of 12 talented, passionate, and hardworking Yale students, our Secretariat strives to welcome a new decade of YMUNC with the best iteration to date. Over the course of three days, delegates from China and beyond will step into their role as future leaders and dive into the world’s most pressing issues. From navigating climate disasters in the United Nations Development Program to fostering Afro-Asian relations as a representative in the 1955 Bandung Conference, delegates will pass dozens of resolutions that bring all voices of the world to the forefront of global leadership.

Representing the true spirit of YMUN education, it is our utmost priority to make the conference accessible to all, no matter background or Model UN experience. As a result, our 10 committees have been carefully designed to welcome all experience levels. In addition, our website offers a plethora of resources to ready delegates for success in committee, from parliamentary procedure tutorials to learning packets for beginner, intermediate, and advanced delegates. With personalized position paper feedback and one-on-one advice, it is our greatest goal to connect with the YMUNC community and create the best experience possible for each and every delegate.

In addition to teaching international relations and innovation, we also strive to equip delegates with the skills needed to become global change-makers. In a world that is increasingly polarized, we hope to foster mutual understanding and respect that transcends borders and differences. With trainings focused on collaboration and leadership development panels, we hope delegates form lifelong friendships and walk away from the conference not only as more skilled debaters, but also as more courageous, empathetic, and inspired citizens.

We look forward to seeing you in committee in May 2024. Once again, on behalf of our entire team, welcome to YMUN China 2024!

With sincerest wishes,

Peilin Lu

Secretary-General Yale Model United Nations
