Welcome Letter

Dear delegates and faculty advisors,

We cordially invite you to attend and participate in the 2025 WE Model United Nations Conference (WEMUN EXPO). The conference will be held from August 1st to 4th, 2025, at the Beijing International Convention Center, with the great support of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation.

In this world of diverse cultures and perspectives, we face various complex and critical global issues. We understand that each individual possesses unique cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and viewpoints. It is within this diversity that we find the best path to addressing global challenges. Therefore, we have chosen “WE agree to disagree” as the theme for this year’s WEMUN EXPO. This theme emphasizes the importance of maintaining an open mindset, respecting, and understanding differing viewpoints in communication and collaboration. We believe that only by appreciating each other’s differences can we find universal solutions to global issues. Thus, in this conference, we encourage delegates to express their views openly while also listening to others with an open mind.

WEMUN EXPO 2025 plans to host 9 main conference venues, including the special venue of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation. Each venue will host 1-3 committees, totaling over 25 committees. The conference will maintain partnerships with top global Model United Nations brands and organizations, they are University of Chicago, Oxford University, Yale University, Cornell University, University of California, Berkeley, Boston University, McGill University, and European International. Starting this year, we will introduce the Ad Hoc Committee of the Secretary-General, led by the Conference Secretary-General in collaboration with an expert panel with an average of ten years of Model UN experience. Delegates will navigate crisis management principles in a continuously changing environment, from honing public speaking skills to drafting directives, participating in behind-the-scenes strategic negotiations, and managing complex cooperation mechanisms. The dynamic environment will test and enhance delegates’ agility and adaptability to unforeseen circumstances, providing an unparalleled conference experience.

Furthermore, this year’s conference will incorporate “consensus” as a key criterion for evaluating delegate performance, marking an important step towards reflecting the essence of true multilateral diplomacy. We will emphasize delegates’ ability to grasp and understand complex opinions and interest patterns to achieve broad consensus. Through this approach, we aim to enrich the authenticity of the conference simulation and encourage delegates to engage more deeply in negotiations and consultations, emphasizing the importance of proposing suggestions for broader common interests rather than individual countries. We hope to inspire future global citizens to value the power of consensus in addressing numerous challenges faced by global society.

The WEMUN EXPO 2025 organizing committee will ensure that each committee rigorously selects its chairs, optimizing the quality of academic documents to provide delegates with a high standard of academic experience. Whether it’s the pace of committee meetings, the featured activities during the conference, or conference services, we will continue to refine and improve to ensure delegates have a fulfilling experience. The conference registration channel is now open, and delegates can learn all conference information through this guide. The organizing committee will diligently fulfill its responsibilities and ensure the successful execution of pre-conference and conference-related tasks. We believe that the innovative WEMUN EXPO will create unforgettable summer memories for everyone!
