Understanding Chinese Culture- Shanghai
In recent years, Shanghai has been dominating and is the inspiration for cyberpunk culture. Visionary buildings such as the Oriental Pearl Tower and the neon-illuminated Yan’an Elevated Road are examples that have uplifted the reputation of cyberpunk in Shanghai. The city is internationally well known for having a lively and energetic atmosphere. The features of Shanghai-style Culture include the pursuit of innovation and excellence along with diversification.
As Shanghai became more cosmopolitan, its interest in the arts and culture grew exponentially. Shanghai is developing its own style of customs, by bringing various and diverse new elements into the culture. Shanghai is not only preserving and innovating the traditional cultures in celebrations, folk arts and crafts, customs, antique collections, and martial arts sports, but also absorbing and developing cultures from foreign countries in entertainments, etiquettes, sports, foods, and costumes. Therefore Shanghai, in all its glory, is a fusion of its traditional and contemporary elements, which adds to the exoticness and cosmopolitan nature of the culturally diverse city.
